Frequently Asked Questions

What is Construct Zero?

We are a research institute founded by Mark Joyner that develops what we call "Dirt Cheap Decentralized Distribution Devices." (DC3D's for short.)

What is a Dirt Cheap Decentralized Distribution Device?

They are small, low-cost, easy-to-produce, devices that provide for the distribution of the supplies for basic human needs in a decentralized fashion.

In other words, imagine a small device that a village could own that would provide all of its electricity off the main power grid.

And imagine that the cost for such a device were less than USD $5.

Now imagine that we also had such devices that would also provide:  food, water, sanitation, computing, health care, and Internet access.

Aren't There Sustainable Communities Already Doing This Kind of Thing Around the World?

Not quite.  There are a few prototype sustainable communities, but none of them are yet truly sustainable and truly decentralized.  And the cost for the devices that these communities rely on are far too high to be a valid option in the 3rd world.  DC3D's for all of the basic human needs would provide a genuine solution.

Why Would You Want to Do This?

Several reasons ...

First, the U.N. predicts that the world population will reach 9.2 billion by 2050 alone - with almost all of the increase appearing in the under-developed "3rd world."  This poses a tremendous security risk even to those in the industrialized world.

Next, if you look at the history of world conflict you'll find that it is usually tied somehow to the lack of access to basic human resources or the fear of losing access.  We propose that our solutions would make conflict less likely to occur.

How Do You Propose to Do This?

We are planning to break ground on our research center (location to be determined) some time in 2010.  Scientists and Engineers from around the world will be allowed to begin applying for a tenure with the Construct Zero research center in coming months.

How Will You Fund It?

In order to keep our objectives pure we do not intend to accept any outside funding at this time.  Our funding will come purely from the revenue earned from the technology companies we incubate at www.ConstructZero.COM

How Do You Propose to Get These Devices in the Hands of Those Who Need Them?  Won't That Be a Herculean Task?

We plan to do this through a sister organization known at the World Heritage Technology Foundation.

Mark's notion of "World Heritage Technology" is simple.  While we will hold the patents on these technologies we intend to make their plans more or less "open source" in the way that some software source code has been made open source.

We will make the plans for the devices freely available on the Internet and entrepreneurs can produce these devices for a profit - paying us no royalty whatsoever.  Free market economics will drive the prices down until their existence is quite common.

Do You Have Any DC3D's in Development?

Mark has the plans for many in pre-testing conceptual development - the final plans for which must be tested and proven in our research center.

We invite others to submit their plans as well.
